Field Trip

We ventured out to Jamestown VA this weekend, and had a blast. Our AC was broken and with the weather in the 90's I couldn't stay home..

It was a very informative trip. I really didn't get the chance to enjoy the full experience because the girls are still too small and restless when it comes to staying in one spot for a long time. I guess I would be too if it was 100 degrees and my butt was strapped to a stroller.

But the day was nice and we enjoyed the outdoors very much. My niece, who's 10, was the most impressed. OK I lied, Hubby got a real kick out of it too. I will definitely go back, but I'll wait till the girls are a little older...

But I'd recommend it, especially for school aged kids, it was very hands on, and the folk (all in time appropriate garb, really neat) were extremely friendly and informative. Did I mention, hands on... I think that was my niece's favorite part.. I only wish she was that enthusiastic about chores..

Rockin' Playdate

So, we finally went on our first play date this past week, and I am so excited, and ready for some more. I never had the courage to head out with both kiddos on my own like this. A store, supermarket, museum, etc. no problem (as you can see, these are all situations where my babes would or could remain strapped in), but the thought of keeping up with the both f them was too frightening. I am proud to say, we have concurred that fear, and they looked cute doing it.

I found these beauties (the t-shirts, not the girls..) @ Baby Rock Apparel. and if you think that rocks, also check out Trendy Remedy... MUY Caliente.. Love it....
I must warn you, the site is addictive. I wanted it all. These sites were very easy to navigate, and super user friendly.. Not to mention all the wonderfully cute stuff (OK I mentioned). They offer trendy, hip, original clothing, accessories, and even music for babies and toddlers. Don't even get me started on the music.. These are a very cool twist on your otherwise usual lullabies and baby sounds. These are great, I always thought Kidz Bop was innovative, turning hits into kids songs, but my girls are still years away from all that oooom bop... These seem just perfect. Actually next on my list of gotta haves..
I was also very satisfied with everything I received. The quality was great, the designs original, and super cute. I did notice though that the size of the t-shirts run a little small. I ordered a 2T for my now 17 month olds and they fit perfectly, just a note for those moms looking to stock up on a bigger size..

Baby Rock Apparel was founded in 2004, and was among the first baby clothes manufacturers to offer hip baby clothes with an edge for boys and girls. Baby Rock Apparel. also created the ingenious "Tinkle Tube" device, that makes taking little boys potty away from home a breeze. I have heard mention many times form moms of boys, both personal friends and bloggy friends, of how difficult it is to find cute, hip, happening items for boys.... Folks, Trendy Remedy is your answer. If you're like me... Boy or girl..Trendy Remedy rocks.. My husband hates when I find something in the boys department for the girls... What can I say, I'm a tomboy mama and some boy stuff is just too cute. Besides Trendy Remedy and Baby Rock Apparel and Twin Tested and Mommy Approved...

AS a HUGE Bonus The folks at Trendy Remedy and Baby Rock Apparel have been so kind as to offer you, my readers an opportunity to rock your babies out at a discounted rate... Yup, Cool stuff and a bargain.. Just use coupon code onthefly for both sites to receive 15% off of any order only until July 24th.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, so please once you've had a chance to check these sites out, please let me know what you think.

Enjoy

I am addicted to the Boogie Wipes and can't be without a pack in the family room, the van, the diaper bag, the kitchen.. I'm sure you get the point so.... Sarah, I hope you love it as much as I do. and Congratulations

Treasure Hunt Book Giveaway:

Andrea Singer said...

That sounds like a great book! I would love this for ideas for my husband (especially since his 30th birthday is coming up this summer). . .and maybe he'd read it for me, hahaha! We definitely need help in this area - since the birth of our son 11 months ago we skipped each other's Christmas and Valentine's Day gifts this year and now our 6th anniversary is coming up next month but we have nothing planned or any "want" lists. :(

I must admit, this book was a great find... I took some ideas from it yet again this Easter and had an egg hunt with a twist... The Kiddos LOVED it.

Hope you enjoy it too Andrea, and you'll have to let us know how it goes for hubby's birthday.

Aloha Friday #28

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day to take it easy and look forward to the weekend. Kalani @ An Island Life is hosting Aloha Friday. What's that you ask? I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Today’s question is:

I often heard the phrase "If I knew back then what I know now", and found myself uttering it this morning. I was talking about the twins, and mentioned that through the sleepless nights, diaper duty, ignorance, etc... I'd do it all over again, because ofcourse I DO know now... hahaha.. Which brings me to my question...

If there was some key piece of knowledge of advice YOU wish someone had shared with you in the past, or maybe they did and you wish you had listened... What would it be...

Me? I wish it hadn't taken me so long to figure out that life is much simpler when you do BOTH at the same time... I know it seems like a no brainer, but to a first time mom, exhausted, sleep deprived, scared, etc... It didn't dawn on me for a while.. lol

Daddy's Coming

My hubby got home last week, and I cannot express how excited I am... It has been wonderful having him back, but more impressive is watching him interact with the girls. The day could not have come quicker. He was scheduled to come in at 1800, and this was the longest day ever, it seemed... lol..
Well, we got ready, got our banner (Which reads "Welcome Home Daddy" "Love Star and Luna") and we headed out... I had done this wait many times before, but never with little ones. Gosh, I don;t remember it being this long, this windy, this cold... Funny how you tune into every detail when you have kids.. :) Daddy finally came strolling off by 2100. Luna went right to him, it's amazing how honed in their instincts are. Star on the other hand, didn't want me to let g of her for anything in the world.. And when I finally got to look into his eyes, it was like a 7,000lb weight was lifted. They were filled with tears, and he didn't have to say a word, they spoke for him and said it ALL.

I was asked if I cried, and as far as I can remember, I don;t think I did. Unfortunately, this homecoming wasn't all about me, and my mind wasn't really focused on it.. lol.. Don't get me wrong, I was very excited to have him come back, but instead of all those emotions running through me at the site of him, it was more about his reaction to the girls and theirs to him. My mind was more preoccupied with keeping track of two rambunctious one year olds, and not on my personal feelings.. Funny how priorities change...

It has been amazing watching him interact with them these past few days. He always wanted kids, and although we tried for 13 long hard years, I couldn't help but to wonder if it was a little more one sided.
When he left, the girls were barely sitting up on their own, and of course he didn't have a ton of interaction with them. They were still at the age, that mommy did almost everything.. But now they PLAY... and geez, can that man get more kisses and hugs?
